Questions about Pro

What the key unlocks, what happens when the licence ends, and the other things buyers ask.

What does the key unlock?

Pro, on each machine it is activated on. That means a console for every project, running in the background and started at login by the login agent; the command line that lists, opens, stops and restarts those consoles (phase-console list, open, status, logs and the rest); and the fleet, one supervisor per machine that every console follows, with a table of every project and what it actually did, side by side.

Without an active key, the same package runs the free features: one console, in the foreground. The pricing page lists every capability by tier.

What happens when my licence ends?

A licence runs for 365 days from the day you pay, which is a year of every new version. When it ends without a renewal, every version released on or before its end date stays Pro for good: that is the perpetual fallback. A version released after that date needs a renewal, and so does activating the key on another machine.

Renew from your account page. The new term runs on from the current end date, never from the day you pay, so renewing early loses nothing. The key stays the same, on the same machines. Nothing renews by itself.

Can I use Pro offline?

Yes, for a while. Pro checks its licence at least once every 7 days while it runs. If the licence server cannot be reached when a check falls due, Pro keeps working for 30 more days; after that the Pro features pause until a check succeeds. The free features never stop. Activating a machine does need the network. Activate Pro has the details.

How many machines can I use it on?

Three at a time. To move to a new machine, free one, either from your account page or with phase-console license deactivate on the machine you are leaving, then activate the key on the new one. Activate Pro walks through it.

I lost my key. Where is it?

Sign in to your account page with the email address you bought with. It shows each licence's key with most of it hidden, and Copy key copies the whole key. The key is also in the email that brought it.

Can I get a refund?

The refund policy says when and how. A refund revokes the licence: its key stops unlocking Pro the next time a console checks it, and the free features keep working.

What is the source-access tier?

An optional tier, offered only when the pricing page lists it. It is everything in Pro, plus read access to the private repository through an invitation to the GitHub account you name at checkout. The source comes under its own source-access licence, for use inside your organisation.

Do I need a GitHub account?

Not for Pro. The package is public on npm and Homebrew, and your key is what unlocks it. A GitHub account matters only for the source-access tier.

Is there a free edition?

Yes. The free edition of Phase Console is open source under the MIT License, in the public repository phased-execution-public/phase-console. It is the whole product for one console at a time; Pro adds the fleet.

Does Pro run on Windows?

Through WSL2. Phase Console runs on macOS and Linux; on Windows, the installer's PowerShell line runs it inside WSL2, where the login agent needs systemd turned on. Each WSL2 distribution counts as one of your three machines. Install Pro has the steps.

What about Phase Console 5.1.0 and earlier?

They stay under the MIT License they were released under, for whoever holds a copy. Pro, the package your licence unlocks, starts at 6.0.0 and comes under the licence agreement.
